My Average Day at the Office

Good evening, dear reader.

This is a different blog as compared to my other ones that I have posted so far. I wanted to switch up what I write for a change, since all I have written about so far is my server. This post is that change.

My day usually starts with me waking up between 7 and 8 AM. I have actually become a bit more active in the mornings lately, though its only been four days of this sudden burst of energy. After that, I get my laptop and phone charger into my office bag and head downstairs.

When I get downstairs, I put the bag on the sofa and greet my dad, who is usually in the dining room by this time, and head straight to the bathroom. After I am done with the things you usually do in there, I change into my clothes for the office, which are usually a pair of jeans and a polo shirt.

I then grab my comb and hairband and go back to the bathroom to make my hair. My hair is a bit long and still growing so it does get a little bit annoying in the morning, but it usually looks better by the afternoon.

Getting out of the bathroom, my breakfast is usually in place on the dining table. My mum is also up by this point so I greet her as well. For breakfast, I usually drink tea and have two sandwiches which gets me full for a while till I get to the office.

As for how I reach the office, my boss is the one who comes to pick me up. We only live three minutes away from each other so he drives his car to my house and honks to signal that he's here. I am grateful for this because getting to the office otherwise would be a massive hassle since it is approximately 10 kilometres away from where we live, and takes 20-25 minutes to reach.

It is usually a silent ride most of the time on the way, unless one of us starts a conversation. It's rare for me to initiate, and they are usually short-lived, but I do enjoy the small talk. Otherwise, he does have music playing, and I quite like the songs. They are mostly old bollywood songs and classics, and that is just the way I like my bollywood songs. I have even added a few of the songs he has played in the past to my music library.

When we reach the place, he parks in the basement and we take the elevator to our floor. We usually get there around 10 AM, which is a bit later than the others-one being his partner and the other being a fellow employee.

When we finally get inside, they are always there to greet us. After we settle in, he usually has his breakfast in the office and even brings some for his senior partner. He also brings tea to accompany the food and even pours me some, which usually keeps me going till lunch time.

Getting down to work, I take my laptop out, plug it in, and check the company mail for anything important. This is what I usually do when I don't have any pending work or am waiting for something to be assigned to me. Our team is pretty small, so we all are usually quite chill and informal with each other, although I still talk formally most of the time.

Apart from checking emails, I also make forms, reports, update our tasks, make invoices, and a lot of other things as well. Since this is my first job, they had to teach me everything, which is how it usually how it goes anyways. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise!

Around 1 PM is when we have our lunch, after which we all go out for a little walk and some more tea (you can never have enough tea!). Coming back to the office around 1:30-1:45 PM, we spend a bit more time relaxing, and then get back to work.

The rest of the day is either spent working, scrolling through the mails, or studying. I also go through my phone a bit, either for a quick peak at Twitter or to reply to a friend if they message me.

Around 4-4:30 PM, our boss tells us to pack up our things and get ready to leave. When I first started work, we usually left around 3-3:30 PM, but that is very rare nowadays.

Anyways, after we pack up we head towards the lift and back down to the car. We have also started to drop off our other colleague on the way back home so that he doesn't have to take the bus.

After coming back home, I take out my lunchbox, change my clothes and relax.

There you have it, my average day at work! It may not sound like much, but I still have a lot of fun. Of course, not EVERY day is the same, but I wanted to give you a perspective on how it has been lately.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed!
