About Me
Hi, I'm Sam. I am a university student who also works in an IPR Law Firm which is essentially my first job. It would be an understatement to say I love what I do.
Ever since I was a little kid, I have just loved technology; be it the old Nokias or the modems that were plugged in the old computer that my grandma had. It was actually quite a while later when we got Wi-Fi.
In my school years, although it hasn't been long since I graduated, I was the average kid in studies and sports. My strongest subjects were English and Computer Science, and the weakest was Maths (who could've guessed!). I did have a lot of really nice friends, some of whom I still keep in touch with and are my best buds for life. The teachers I had were also really supportive and kind, to me at the very least, since I was probably one of the least problematic students.
After 10th grade, which is a very important grade here; not sure about the other countries except maybe Nepal, I chose Humanities as my stream (list of subjects that you want to pursue for the final 2 years of school). It was definitely the best fit for me as the other options were Science and Commerce, and seeing how bad I was at maths, and even science, the only option was the one I ended taking up. I may speak of it as something one would dread to take but that is quite far from the truth, although the parents over here love to act like it is the end of the world for their children and their future.
Academically, my best years were in 11th and 12th after I took Humanities, and no, it's not because it is somehow easier than Science and Commerce; it really isn't so. Anyhow, my grades shot up by a mile. Before this I would get around 65% in my report card but now in my final exams for both the remaining grades, I got 82% (I do not remember the exact percentage but it was around that) and 88% respectively. Huge improvement.
Now, how did I think of starting this blog-post thingymajig? I am glad you asked.
In late 2025, I got the idea to make my own NAS/homelab. This led me to Facebook Marketplace where I found a thin-client for 1.5k Rupees, which is around 20 USD. This was none other than the Fujitsu Futro S720! It didn't come with a hard-drive or RAM, but having some spare laptop RAM and a single HDD (yep.), I was pretty much set.
Choosing OpenMediaVault as my OS of choice, I installed Immich as a cloud storage service for my photos and videos, Jellyfin as a personal media service, and Navidrome as a music streaming service to replace Spotify.
Leaving Spotify was a bit daunting, mostly due to the 1,400 songs I had in my library. The subscription was also pretty cheap here and I had grown quite fond of it, which in hindsight is not a good thing but I am now glad to say I moved on from it, quite easily at that.
When I finished setting up my services, I used Tailscale to access them outside my home network and eventually bought a domain and set up Cloudflare Tunnel. I soon got enticed to make my own website of sorts for blogging, seeing how the root domain was still unused. I started experimenting with Webstudio but it was a bit too bother-some for me. This does not mean it's a bad tool by any means, I was just not up-to the mark for it.
Finally, choosing Publii as my website builder, we are here. I am honestly quite excited to see where this leads. As of now, this is about all I have to share with you, the reader. Thank you for reading through the long wall of text, hope you have a great time reading my blogs, which I will hopefully be publishing... otherwise it would be quite a waste of time. Haha, anyways, thank you again!
